Core fees for auto parts?

Question:
I know that there are core fees involved for some auto parts. Is it normal to be charged a core fee whether the replacement part is new, remanufactured, or rebuilt? Thanks.

Does cleaning the engine make the car in a good cond. i am thinking of taking to d dealer & clean it up?

Actually it is fairly normal weather the part is new or not. As long as something is salvageable re-manufacturing companies will pay you essentially for your junk so as not to create a shortage in their product. Core prices are higher for parts that are in shorter demand... newer alternators etc... whereas if there is an overflow of parts in that warehouse the price isnt quite as high. Say for instance a water pump for a small block chevy.

Isthere a way to see if a Fuse Relay is bad?

Yea... they use the old parts for rebuilds. Some parts are no longer in production and can only be obtained by rebuilding used one. And some are rebuilt to save you money over buying a new one!!

Transmission Solenoid and Sensors in a 98 Ford Windstar...?

Here in Texas, atleast, they charge you $10 extra on when you buy a car battery, called a core fee. and you could either choose to return the old worn out battery to them and get back the $10 or not. BUt most people will return it, because .you kow.it's $10. It's so you don't irresponsibly dump the hazardous battery somewhere.

Generally core charges only apply to rebuilt or reman. parts, on rare occasions manufactures of new parts have requested core charges the industry as a whole is getting a way from cores. experiance
