How do you get the doors open on a 1996 Cutlas Supreme when the Handles are broken?

Question:
my daughter car has had both exterior handles broken and she wants to know how to get the doors open so they can be repaired

Answers:

i want to swap my car for a 4x4 and eBay doesn't allow swaps does anyone know any a site where i can do this

After looking at a photo of the auto in question, it looks like the handles are on the lower part of the window frame, pull the limp or broken handle as if to open the door this pulls it out of the way, with a flashlight look at what you may see of any broken remnants that did not pull back with the handle, sometimes a piece attached to the opening rod can be seen, if so get a pair of needle nose or pliers and pull up or out on it this may open door. if not you may want to call pop-a-lock to get open.

If you can't open the doors and can't find any alternate ways into the vehicle (perhaps the trunk opens into the backseat?) I'm afraid you have little choice but to break a window.

Do yourself a favor and call around for prices on replacement windows BEFORE you get smashing, so you can do it without wasting a bunch of money. I was very surprised to learn that the little pieces of glass are usually more expensive than the large windows in the doors themselves.
