Why do i have to keep pressing my rear defroster button??

in my car?? i press it & it works for about 3 minutes then turns off,is this normal??

The first guy is correct.Rear defrosters have timers on them so they do not overheat.3 minutes sounds about right on length.

On some cars, the rear defroster turns off after a certain period of time, or when the window reaches a certain temp. Your owner's manual will tell you if yours is supposed to do that. If it isn't, get it repaired.
