Question:
I thought it was the tires but the treads were pretty new. Its really annoying when driving. What should I do? Thanks.
Answers:
two most common things are wheel bearings or tires. it don't matter if new they could be feathered and have taper wear if your alignment is off. also some tires are just loud normally because of the aggressive tread patterns. but to check the wheel bearing just raise car and try to shake wheel front top and bottom and if it has play you have a bad bearing.
if the tires are good and have the right "Air Pressure" (check them just to make sure) Check the brake pads. If there good jack each tire up and spin it by hand check for about the same resistance ... if one is harder then the other or makes a noise, It could be a wheel bearing....

lift the car and wiggle your wheel, it shouldn't, if it does get wheel bearings.what causes 4x4 transmisson to stick on?
it sounds like you may have an alighnment issue. take your car in and have them check the tow in. if your brakes are not fully releasing this could be another issue.Tire noise will change pitch on different surfaces, particularly if switching between asphalt and concrete. If the noise doesn't change when you transition from the one surface to another, then its not tires.
2000 Ford Mustang Clutch/Transmission problem?
Wheel bearing is the most likely culprit. A worn or loose wheel bearing will make a low growling noise that increases with speed. If the pitch of the noise changes while you are turning you have a good indicator of a bearing problem. You can test for a loose wheel bearing by jacking up the car, grabbing the tire at the top and bottom and rocking it back and forth. It should be tight. If you get any movement then the bearing is worn and loose. This is not a foolproof test as the bearing can be tight but still worn but if the condition exists it helps confirm the diagnosis.

Hum along with it, sing a happy songSounds like a bad front wheel bearing. I had the same problem on my 1993 Buick Century, and it was very annoying. If you are not sure what side of the car has a bad wheel bearing, turn the wheel to each side while coasting. If the humming stops on one side, but doesnt stop on the other you probably have a bad wheel bearing on the side that doesnt stop humming. Thats how i found my wheel bearing was bad.
