Does anyone know how to turn off "MAINT REQ'D" light for Honda Civic 2004 without going to the dealer?

This takes about an hour. Remove the lines on the master cylinder first, could be 2 or 4 brake lines. Remove the 2 nuts holding the master cylinder to the power brake booster. I suspect it has power brakes. Install the new master cylinder, reinstall the nuts holding the master cylinder to the brake booster. Install the 2 or 4 lines. Fill the master with brake fluid and bleed the lines of the master cylinder first. Tighten up the lines and bleed brake fluid at all four wheels until no air comes out. Should be it.

what is the difference in the Briggs and Stratton 12 and 12.5 HP. What parts are different!!Thanks!!!:-)?

it would be a hard and messy job to do at home but can be done, you need to unbolt it from the booster, suck it dry and then remove the lines with a line wrench so you don't round them off. pull it out , now the new one most of the time wont have a reservoir you have to carefullyy remove the old one buy clamping it in a vise and popping it off with a big screwdriver or sometimes they have a bolt or two. and then when you put it on new master cylinder you need to lube the o rings with clean brake fluid and be carefull pushing on. then you have to bench bleed it before install if you skip this step then it will never work right and the pedal will be spongy and the warranty will be void!! it will come with a kit of tubes and plugs, install the plugs in the line ports of new cylinder and then run the lines up and back into the reservoir. fill it with clean brake fluid and push in on the piston very slowly and you will see bubbles coming out the top from trapped air, wait 10-15 seconds in between pumps and then repeat until no more air bubbles are seen, remove the lines but leave plugs in, then you just reverse the procedure to install and make sure you bleed the brakes with a buddy in the sequence of Right rear, left rear, right front, left front. good luck and be safe.

i own a repair shop, and you have to remove the master cylinder away from it,,you don't have to take the lines off from it,,it will move out of the way,,then you go inside and remove the four nuts that hold it on,and remove the large vacuum line off of it,and then you should be able to pull it away from the fire wall,be care full ,it will try and get caught on everything it can,,but it will come out,,reverse this ,to put the other one back on,,id also go get me a good repair manual on this car ,Haynes makes a good one,it will help you on this job,,and others also,,good luck, hope this help,s.happy new years.

on most cars you unhook the two lines that transport the brake fluid and take the two nuts off and pull the master cylinder off and replace it the same way just in reverse
