A question about battery jumping.?

Question:
When jumping a newer car......Should the car doing the jump have the engine running or not? Is it possible to damage either electrical system if the cars are not compatible?

Answers:

where is the fues located for the 4 wheel drive on my toyota surf?

In any jumping situation both cars should be shut off. Connect the the jumper cables, positive first on both cars, then the negetive on the "jumper" followed by the negetive on the "jumpee"
start the "jumper", make sure there are no sparks or anything, let it run for a minute, prior to starting the car make sure all accessories are shut off( radio, ac, etc.) then attempt to start the other car. Unless one of the cars is really really old like from the
fifties or older the systems should be basically the same. Always observe polarity, If the cables are backwards it is easy to a lot of damage.

I would recommend that you do so that you do not put unneeded strain on the battery.

My car doors won't close. The latches are facing the wrong way. How do I unfreeze them?

Keep it running, your alternator will compensate. The only way for electrical systems to be incompatible is when one of the cars is negatively grounded (Almost every car) and the other is positively grounded (very rare).

What is the best way to remove decals from a car?

The car that needs help being started shouldn't be on. The vehicle that is helping you has to be running. make sure that you have the positive and negative cables on the right posts and on your car you should probably just have the positive cable connected to the post and have the negative cable grounded ( not on the battery but connected to some metal in your car) this way you won't have to worry about the battery exploding or something. Let the car run for awhile and then try starting your car. Once your car is started let it run for awhile so the alternator can finish charging your battery up. I hope this was helpful for you.
