Does every dealership have a service center?
BOTH crank and cam sprockets should be pointing in the 12 o'clock position EXACTLY, AFTER THE TENSIONER IS TIGHTENED. If it is off, loosen the tensioner and start over again. This is one of the easiest engines to time. You better remove the two 11mm nuts holding the black plastic belt cover and try again. It doesn't take long. You don't set it to any tooth. The sensor reads them all. What did you do to the car that requires re-timing?

If the balancer and crank trigger are bolted up correctly on the engine, there is nothing to align.Transmission problem with 88 chev cavaliar?
There is a gap in the trigger wheel and the engine cranks over until this gap is sampled and the computer knows where #1 TDC is...this is not something that is adjustable.

Hmmm, I sure which I could see what you are seeing. The balancer/crank trigger should only be able to bolt on one way, and same with the sensor. There should not be any kind of adjustment available to either of them.once they are bolted on that should be it...they should be ready to go.
