Question:
I'm not sure where the noise is coming from. I'm not knowledgable in diagnosing problems with cars, more just fixing them. When I go over a speed bump or down and up a dip, The shocks or something in the rear is making a erhhh eee noise. haha. SHould I replace the shocks. the car has 174k miles.
Also, when i'm turning there is a clicking noise from the front end of the car. I'm thinking new CV joints, I checked and they are cut/cracked. Right?

I would check the struts, for sure. You didn't mention how long the current ones have been on, though. Also, when car is parked, push down on the rear of the car. If it just pops back up and stays up, that's OK, but if it "bounces" or is very easy to push down, then that is probably the struts.I have an 87 ford ranger and iwant to know if the lug pattern is the same on a2003 ranger?
You are correct on the CV joints. Once the boot is split, it is only a matter of time until the grease leaks out and the crud gets in. Clicking sound is an indication they are bad.
Just replace the whole axle on each side, as the remanufactured ones are cheap, and you have to dis-assemble almost as much to do that as you do to just replace the joint.
