Question:
I broke the transfer case. Other than that it runs like a striped-racing goat. I was told the transfer case out of the jeep grand wagoneer will fit in the eagle but you have to swap the pinion gears. I really want a low range transfer case. I have forced myself into it. I thought the rear axle out of an eagle 2 yrs newer would be okay to swap. That is why the transfer case is broken. The gears weren't the same. i don't want to make it two wheel drive only, and I really don't want to change the rear axle again as they are hard to find and expensive. Are there any transfer cases that will fit in this car with a low-lock and a and a rear wheels only lock? The engine is a 254 in line-6 cly. The exact part broken on the transfer case is the viscous coupling, it's supposed to allow slip at 40ftlbs differeance and is part of the front pinion on the case. Did anybody ever get to beat up an AMC designer? Love my Eagle, but it looks as if it were built by aliens.

Have you sought out the advice of the AMC club online? That's what I would do. The AMC Eagle has a bit of a following. There are several online clubs for AMC and Eagles. You might even find someone who can sell you the parts you need for a lot less as well! Good luck.03 Hyundai Elantra - Windshield Washer Ejector Tubing??
Maybe you could use different sized tires on front and rear to make ratios the same.Where's the best place to get my brakes checked?
Try your local junk yards. Most of them have parts and know what can be subsituted. I rebuilt my entire drive on a 74 CJ5 that way and it works great. No to mention a whole lot cheaper.Ok here goes. Try the link below. And you didn't say if it was an NP129 or a 119 I have to assume it is the 129. Because that was a selectable 2 or 4 wheel drive unit. Not like the 119 automatic alltime 4 wheel drive. You'll have to search high and low to find a complete case, but you can rebuild it. (We have the technology) other than this link, you are on your own. Good luck!

How do you change the Coolant of a Nissan Exterra 2000?
Try drivetrain.com. Good luck with that vehicle. It would be terrible to have to retire a car that's worth well over $24.More Questions & Answers ...
