Why have I got such bad luck with my car?

Question:
I bought my car about 7 months ago. It's a Golf. It never gave me a problem until about a month ago. First, the starter motor went. That cost me £125 to replace. Then I got the MOT done which cost £50. Not a problem I know but still cost £50! About a week ago my handbrake cable snapped and I found out my bush needed replacing. I got those two problems sorted and got the car back yesterday.I haven't paid the mechanic yet so don't know how much that is going to cost! And to top it all off, today I opened one of the doors and it wouldn't close. So I drove to the garage holding the door closed with one hand and driving with the other. The mechanic said I need to get a new door catch mechanism and that he would charge £35 to change it. So now I have to ring in sick at work tomorrow so I can go to the scrapyard and find the part.....hopefully.
Is it possible someone has put a curse on me?
Oh and can someone lend me a few quid please? I'm so skint!!
