What type of engine does it have? If it's a 3.1 L V-6 or 3.8 L V-6 getting the starter out and a new starter in is pretty easy. The starter is under the engine and near the front, and it is usually held in place by six bolts. All you have to do is (a) unhook the battery -- you don't want to get shocked, (b) remove the wiring harness from the battery, (c) remove the bolts that hold it in place, and (d) take it out. Depending on the model year, there may be a suspension piece that you'd have to remove as well, but it's not difficult. Once you have it out, just reverse the process to put in your new or rebuilt starter and you're good to go.The best way is to have a shop do it...$150 to $250, it varies...
Doing it yourself requires disconnecting the battery, jacking the car up to get at it, removing wires from the starter solenoid, removing two to four mounting bolts, and catching any shims it may have...the starter is pretty heavy, feels heavier when you are doing it on the ground...
disconnect the battery and then the wires from the starter and remove the 2 bolts
