Question:
Gotta a 63 corvair monza 140 with a center mount holley 390.
Soon as I start the engine it goes to full throttle/ high rpm without moving the throttle ( i have a tense return spring and the throttle isnt open at all).
Idle speed screw is fully out so i can understand why its running so fast as idle?
Something with idle mixture or that adjustment screw underneath the choke?
I dont have a vacuum guage...
Really bizarre

If it idles really high with the choke on full, it might be a vacuum leak and the extra fuel is letting it idle high. With the throttle valve all the way closed, the only way to get that amount of air in would probably be with a leak. See if you cant get a vacuum gauge (12-13"Hg at idle) or run it and spray brake cleaner around the intake manifold and listen for a change in idle (that would be where the leak is).1988 Ford F-150 starter problems?

you have got a vaccum leak, make sure the gasket under the carb is good and the gaskets on the intake manifold also.
