1997 Honda Prelude Check Engine Light - EGR fluid...?

Question:
Hi, I have a question regarding my 1997 Honda Prelude... The car has ~168k miles on it... The check engine light came on in 10/06 and I had it checked - it was EGR fluid insufficient flow.

Unreliable fuel gauge... can it be fixed?

The small independent shop recommended that I change my EGR valve. We changed it and the check engine light went off for a week, then it came back on. I went back to the shop and they think that the EGR valve might be defective, therefore they replaced it. However, the check engine light remains on since then. I lost faith in the shop and went out of money, therefore I let the check engine light on as it is since early this year.

At my recent oil change, the technician noticed that there's oil at the back of my engine, therefore suggested that my head gasket might have a leak. I have some money now but my budget is tight.

What causes a motor mount brake?

I would like to know what u think my prelude's check engine light is indicating, thus saving me money by not falling into anymore wrong diagnostics. Also, dealership?

Honda has a known issue with EGR flow, and it is rarely the valve. Sometimes it is the control of the valve (vacuum line, solenoid, connections etc) but the valve is usually fine.
The issue with the flow is that the ports for the recirculated gas cokes up reducing flow levels. All that is required is to remove the plugs in the rail, clean the deposits out and replace the plugs. Honda stocks the replacement plugs, for about $0.45 (X4) each.It can be done in about 2 hours by a DIYer.
As for the oil leak, watch it, and pay attention to the to the volume of oil you use. If it is only a drip or two, save your money until it gets bad enough that the little car is no longer dependable, or you can no longer afford to clean the deposits from you driveway.

Everytime I put my car in reverse and start backing up, I hear a clunk, clunk, as I back up. What could it be

EGR fluid? That's funny. No such thing.

Are there any websites you can look to find out a part your looking for on a 1996 ford diesel engine itasensor

There are many components that work together in the engine to maintain optimal engine performance and economy.
A service engine soon, or check engine light indicates that there is a sensor that is reading a condition that is "out of range".
Simply resetting the light does not solve the initial cause of the problem.
Replacing a number of parts trying to troubleshoot the problem in the hopes of getting the light to stay off is a tremendous waste of time and money.
The simplest, and most economical way to alleviate your issue, is to have the computer codes checked by a reputable shop to determine what caused the computer to signal you to begin with.

My car will stall randomly, then take numerous tries to start...sometimes doesn't start 'til next day.

That being said, if per-chance you feel the need to reset the light in the hopes that it was a "glitch" of some kind, you could disconnect the negative battery terminal for a couple of minutes to clear the check engine light.

I lost almost all power in my 2002 ford ranger?

EGR stands for -exaust gas recirculation- theres no fluid!!Take it to autozone and get a free scan from them,if it still pulls up egr valve, maybe you should buy one from there.Maybe your shop ripped you off and just cleaned your old one and then reset the code. Also check any hoses and lines to your egr valve and make sure there good. But I would take your new egr valve to a diffrent shop or put it on myself.

My 2000 ford ranger starts vibrating at 60 miles per hour or higher, but it quits when I let off the pedal?

Ironhand is on the right track, you probably need to have the EGR ports cleaned. The oil leak on the back on the rear of the engine is probable from a bad VTEC spool O-ring. Also look at the valve cover gasket and distributor O-ring.Don't go to a Honda dealer, find a local independent Honda specialist.
