ball joints?

I had a 92' 5.0 with the same problem.I ended up replacing the starter to fix it.My problem was that i had full length headers on mine which ran right next to the starter causing it to get hot and go bad. These starters aint cheap because they are "high torque".First make sure your starter solenoid is a good one. That may be a problem even if you did buy a new one. After that, the starter is the only thing left.Like i said they aint cheap, but you could try a junkyard.Good luck

How do you replace the Belt Tensioner on a 1998 Ford Ranger 4 Cyl.?

It sounds like your starter solenoid is sticking. Replace it and you should take care of the prob. I have had it happen on several occassions. Fairly simple replacement, it's located on the fenderwell just in front of the strut tower on the drivers side. If I remember right I think it costs between $15 and $20, good luck!!!

picture of a steering box for a 65 chevy truck 1/2 ton?

I would think its the starter solonoid. Unhook the trigger wire off the solonoid, red with blue tracer wire. If it is still cranking then the solonoid is bad, if it stops then there is a short in the trigger wire. Also try tapping the solonoid when it is acting up and see if it stops.
