Question:
I drive a manual transmission and my brakes have been grinding somewhat intermittenly for months -- pretty much since I had my brake pads replaced. I had the front ones replaced in October, rear ones in February. I took it back to the same mechanic who replaced the brake pads (and resurfaced the rotors) and they said there was nothing wrong with it. The brakes grind when I come to a stop, but it's much worse when I'm holding the clutch in while braking (rather than shifting it into neutral and then braking). I live in Los Angeles and don't know of a reputable mechanic to take it to, so I was wondering if anyone had any ideas of what it could be, so I have a better chance of not getting scammed when I do take it to the shop? Thanks!

What engine combination for a chevy 350 would result in 450 hp?
Yeah, sounds like the clutch throw out bearing. Not the brake system.Brake Controller removal drains battery?
sounds like they were put on wrongWhat are the characteristics of a blown head gasket on a 454 motor?
Using the clutch has nothing to do with your brakes. If the noise is worse when pressing the clutch then more than likely you are having a problem with the clutch system. Try depressing clutch without touching the brakes at all. What you are describing sounds more like a bad throw-out bearing in the clutch system then a brake problem.
Where can I find a battery pack that can power my laptop for longer than 2 hours?
On many manual cars, your brake fluid is shared between your brakes and your clutch cylinder.I left my parking brake on for 12 miles, going up to 45mph, what type of damage have I done?
My guess is that when they did your brakes, they did not bleed them free of air correctly. Now that air is being bubbled around, and using the clutch changes that fluid's power on top of that.
You need to have your brakes AND your clutch properly bled.
