Generator won't start?

Question:
Dad gave me a 1989 Dodge Xplorer. I've never owned a motor home and know a minimal amount to maintain it. I let the generator go too long without cranking it on, and now it won't kick over. It acts like it WANTS to start, just won't quite get there.

Changing oil in car?

The battery is good (charged it overnight from outlet on my house) and there is enough gas in the tank. Help a girl out, would ya?

If you are involved in a crash at approximately 45 mph. and your airbag does not deploy, is man. responsible?

If the generator has a carburetor which it most likely does it probably has residue in the jets. Someone needs to remove it and clean it. Also make sure the spark plug is not gummed up and is clean. When small motors set for a long time with out running the gas in the carburetor evaporates leaving behind residue. One way to prevent this problem if you know the generator is going to be not used for some time... turn off the gas valve and let the motor run the gas out of the carburetor

spray a little starting fluid in the air breather, if it starts but wont stay running, your old gas may be bad, flush it all out and get fresh

How are different auto part stores in your area stocked are they understocked or do the have what you need?

Green just a suggestion remove the spark plug and replace it age will cause them to be bad. if this don't work have a small engine mechanic check for firing problems. Good Luck.
