Windsheild wiper is all over the place?

Question:
The driver side windsheild wiper goes all over the place when its turn on. It will go off the side of the car sometimes. And sometimes it stops short. I have no problem with the passenger side wiper, just the driver side. I've tried tightening the arm thinking it might be loose and putting the arm down lower thinking it was resting too high, but it didn't work either. Why would my wiper be going all over the place? My car is a 1997 mazda protege.

Sounds like the linkage (from the motor to the wiper arm shafts) under the firewall is shot.

Snickers there are three possible problem's you possibly have . The shaft coming out of the wiper motor is splined it is possible that the splines are worn or damaged , if so motor will have to be changed. 2 the control arm's that cause the wipers to move to and fro have nylon bushings that may be worn and need replaced. 3 the may simply be mis aligned on splines have a certified mechanic check for you. Good Luck.
