There is a noise coming from front wheel sounds like a strimmer / lawnmower when driving .?

When put into 4 wheel drive it seems to stop . Just wondering if anybody has any idea of what it could be ?

You have a bad U joint, when you put it in four wheel drive it puts pressure on the U joint and makes the noise go away.
