Question:
My wheel locked as I was coming out of my driveway and made this horrible noise. After a short time it was okay and I was able to go to my mechanic who test drove it and said it was probably condensation in the breaks. It happened again but this time I was driving on the road and had just stopped at a stop sign when I started to proceed accross the road I heard this noise like something was trailing at the back I pulled to the side of the road and checked under the car but could see nothing. I tried to drive forward but the rear left wheel seemed locked and digging into the ground. I put the car in reverse and drove back a very short distance then I was able to drive forward with no problems.
This is scary especially if it happens on a highway. Is this really only condensation or is it another problem and how can I resolve it easily without going to a mechanic as it is an old car and my finances are very limited?

If the drum is out of round and/or the shoes are badly out or adjustment, this could happen. You will have to have them checked.bad brake caliper. Do you use emergency brake? it may get stuck.... get it fixed before something bad happens... a new caliper should go 4 less than 200 dollars.
anyone had a cam belt snap on a 1.2 p reg clio and it not bend valves?
Sounds like you have some brake problems. I would bring it in and have all the brakes checked out. Not just test drove. As in put the car on the rack pull the tires off and look at the brake system. Could be a number of things causing this. Really does not sound like a condensation problem. Can I patch a crack in a cast iron exhaust manifold?
sounds like ur drum brakes are out of alignment, get to garge and have them realigned as soon as you can.How much it cost for two front brake pads+labor for 04 corolla ?
You can remove the rear wheel on the side that locks up and then pull the drum off of the brakes to check. it sounds like you may have a broken hardware piece that holds the brake shoes to the backing plate causing the shoes to wedge inside the drum. I have also seen leaking wheel cylinders or axle seals cause this problem by coating the shoes with fluid and making them sticky they will usually lock up first thing in the morning but be OK after a few stops when the brakes warm up.More Questions & Answers ...
