Question:
My 87 Volvo 740 GLE automatic shifts rough for 1st and 2nd and sometimes 3rd gears You have to lift your foot off the gas a little for it to shift.(usually a clunk if your not at the right speed). It never slips though.
Can this be helped with additives? What can be done and what will it cost?
Thanks

Small little question for you mechanics out there...?
I would take this to a mechanic to look at. Get the mechanic to run the codes to see if it is throwing any.It may just need serviced. It may also be a bad sensor in the transmission. But definitely take it to a mechanic or you could end up tearing it up.All sorts of transmission problems can be remedied with simple servicing. The transmission can be flushed, the filter screen cleaned or replaced, and the transmission filled with fresh fluid. Cost is $100 to $150 at most shops. I do not believe in additives. All they do for you is cost money and supply a false sense of security.
i own a repair shop, and whats happening to it is the fluid and filter needs changed in it,and the detente cable adjusted, that's all it is but it does need done now if you wait and keep driving it,you can do some damage to it,and take it to a transmission mechanic, someone who does transmissions all the time, good luck with it,hope this helps.
put transmission fluid in it
