2000 mercury grand marquis-some dash lights and tail lights died at the same time?

Question:
speedometer and 2 other dash lights went out, all others are on. tail lights dead.
i checked all inside fuses, all look ok, nothing in the book shows taillight fuses. am i missing something?
this happened before, inside dash lights only, and i changed fuse and it fixed problem.

If your fuses are ok, you may need to check the headlamp switch. Ford had some problems with the headlamp switches in the past that would light the whole car on fire, and I don't think they ever figured out how to make a good ford/mercury headlamp switch.

I would say the fuse but since you already checked that the wiring from the fuse box may be the culprit.
