How to trouble shoot temperature gauge 94 GMC safari 4.3?

Question:
I have changed the engine coolant temperature sensor, the gauge is still not working, what sould I look for?

Answers:

lucas oil additive?

make sure it's the right one. some vehicles have a separate sensor 1-gauge or 1- light only
check w/ parts store and see if they gave you one for light only.
there's also an air coolant temp switch available.(not sure if they're the same)

What is the best way to get oxidation, tree sap off your car?

If it isn't functioning at all, it is probably the sending unit. If the engine is overheating or taking forever to warm up, you need a new thermostat.

my daughter has a 2004 altma.she said it had a bad smell like eggs so i told her it was the converter but?

sensor is the sending unit, check the wiring

Angle for a swivel wheel? Phsics and computer pros please help.?

Use a voltmeter on the wire to the sensor. It should read 12V when disconnected. When connected, the hotter the engine, the lower the voltage.
The gauge will have 12V going to one terminal and the other terminal will go to the sensor. If the wire to the sensor touched ground, it could have blown the gauge, but they're usually sturdier than that.
