Question:
I have a 1991 Mercury Sable with 63,000 miles, one day I put it in drive and it wont move. The rpm goes up but the car will not move..is it the trans??
Answers:
trannie is shot. Unless you had the emergency brake on or something. lol
Even though it only has 63,000 you gotta realize that it's on old car. So yeah it's probably the transmission.
Probablly. Try shifting the auto tranny all the way down to first gear and back to park a few times, then see if it will move out in first. It will only go slowly in that gear, but you may be able to get it to start engaging again, or at least limp it to a service place.
Can you siphon gas out of a 97' Ford ThunderBird??
The bad news is that car is not very reliable to start with, and being more than 10 years old, it will likely develop additional problems shortly. Good luck.
4L80E transmission applies converter in rev and drive a?
I would say yes, yes and most likely (no really, I think it has to be).is it bad to drive a car with a broken strut?
Actually, it is most likely the torque converter, either way though, not good...Did you put it in drive?
try the shifter linkage first. its old and not a lot of miles in 10 years means it my have sat a bit. it may have rusted or gotten brittle. if its not that then follow the others.
Did you hoist the sail and reel in the anchor ?? Oh, wait, I'm on the wrong web-page, this is about cars, isn't it ?? Sorry about that, I thought I heard someone mention " Land -Yacht ".. lol :)
2003 Grand Am SE starting problems?
It sounds like your trany was leaking fluid and eventually it ran out and that causes the car to sit there like a rock.On a 1991 it is very rare that the transmission would blow this soon. Check if there is anything blocking the front wheels or you could have just left your E-brake on. Try adding some trany fluid and see if it moves,if it dose you need some transmission work done.If it dosen't move The cable that conects to the rear wheels and E-brake may be stuck or you could need a your trany rebuilt or yould could need a brand new one witch could be about $300-$600 bucksor sweetie maybe you should just take it to the shop..
