Mercury Cougar Electrical Problem?

Question:
My 1999 Mercury Cougar, with a 2.5 liter V6, continues to have electrical problems despite a recently installed new battery and alternator. The only way to crank the car is to jump it, and after I remove the cables, it stutters, the lights to dim and it shuts off. Also, a recently installed $150 brake light switch is no longer working. A friend indicates a computer/sensor problem here. Anyone have any ideas?, ......Help In GA !!

What is the difference between a hammer drill and a battery drill?

There is a fuse in the battery junction box that usually blows causing the symptom you describe. I don't remember the exact fuse, but I do know it's one of the ones in the underhood fuse panel. Hope this helps.

Anyone have problems with xenon headlight bulbs ?

The symptoms point to a bad alternator. If it's not charging and battery is dead, a boost will get you started but will stall right away. Have the battery charged, start car and put volt meter at battery, should read between 14-15volts. Go back to whoever did the work, they should help you.
