My tools are rusty and dirty! (Screwdriver's, wrenches, etc. How can I get them to look new again?
Jun—The MAF could cause the symptoms you describe, but then there are several other things that could cause the problem as well.
I recommend that you retrieve the diagnostic codes from the car's computer and perform proper diagnostics BEFORE you attempt any repairs.
The MAF is very expensive, and you will need to reprogram the PCM for the new component.
If you find that the MAF is defective, take it to the dealer and have it repaired there. You will save some money in the long run even though they are more expensive. But they can perform both operations at the same time, saving you some money.
You can probably persuade one of the nice folks at the local discount parts store to retrieve the codes for you, but I would use the information you gather as a means to communicate in a more informed manner with the dealer.

which cylinder is the number 6 on a ford 4.6?
your just lost! take it to an auto parts store and have them run an obd test they will do this for free and tell you the results if there is an engine code. no to your question.how much does it cost to fix a fan shroud?
The MAF went out on my Explorer and all it would do start and then immediately quit. I got another one from a local junk yard, put it on an it's ran fine ever since. So no it doesn't have to be re-programed.As far as diagnosing it. You'll have to have some one put a tester on your engine.Ask around to see you is reputable. Why have parts of the M25 got tarmac and other bits just concrete?
Could be a number of issues. Mass Airflow (or MAF) sensor could be one. Before you randomly change parts, have someone look at the Diagnostic Trouble Codes.Regarding calibration changes... ... Unless the MAF sensor is a different part number than what is in your car currently you shouldn't require calibration changes if you change the MAF sensor.
