Question:
I have a 98' Ford Ranger 4cylinder 2.0 liter engine, I recently started noticing that i can have both the Ac and Defroster off and the temp knob can be all the way down on heat and i can feel the heater and when i turn it inbetween cold and hot its normal?

Will waterglass fix my head gasket leak?
That particular vehicle ('96 to '99 Rangers & Explorers) were known to have broken blend doors ( the door inside the heater box that switches between hot & cold). The symptom would be a "hit or miss" with the temperature selector like you describe. Unfortunately, the repair requires removal of the entire instrument panel to access, and replace the entire heater box assembly. By the way, your Ranger has a 2.5L 4-cylinder, not a 2.0L. The blend door. Opens and shuts when you turn the knob.what is the pull cord for in the boot lid of a mini 1 convertible?
The cable that moves the door which is like a flapper gets stretched a little after several years of usage. You can have some one adjust it so it shuts the door properly if it's a problem. My Explorer does the same thing. I find that if I put the lever all the over to defrost then really fast shove it all the way over to off it helps shut it off better. Mine just hasn't bugged me enough to fix it.smokey exaust:- whats the prob?
lol.. no no no kiddo... the vent is open, theres a knob on some cars on the dash, above the radio that has 2 pictures.. a picture of an arrow going around ina circle ina car (showing its recycling air inside your car) and a picture of an arrow going into a car (showing its using new air and heating/freezing the air as it enters your car) switch it to the 1st one (recycling the air) -- this will close the vent... if you dont have one of those.. then there is usually a switch on the fans themselves.. one with an X ina box and one with a wave... choose the one with the X ina box to close the vent. The air that you feel coming through the fan is air from under your hood leaking thru the open vent... on a cold day you will probably feel cold air blowing through it softly... ona warm day you may feel a warm air blowing through (from the heat produced as the engine works) ... like how a computer creates heat.. or a light bulb... then imagine blowing that air into your face... lol.. thats the idea... so yea.. just close the vents and you'll be fine.. its nothing wrong with your carMore Questions & Answers ...
