Question:
My car got flooded and when i drove it there was blue smoke coming underneath the hood. So there was a fire. I got scared and left my car on the street and went for help. Apparently after i left someone called the firetruck, they popped open my hood and put out the fire. As a result the infront of the car was totally deformed. I towed it to a mechanic. He told me a lot of stuff were burned under the hood, but the engine and transmission are still good. He said including everything, like buying new parts and his labor, it'd cost $2000 to repair and it's not guaranteed it's not gonna have any problems anymore. He offered i can sell the car to him for $200 b/c he does junkyard work too. Is it a rip-off? I guess i can sell the parts separately but i really dont know anything about cars and dont have the time to deal with it. So should i take the offer?
THanks a lot!
PS:it's an old care, 95 toyota corolla, only 58,000 miles though.

how do you wire up a sat nav system leaving the cigaret lighter free?
take the $200. if you don't have the time or the know-how, it will be less of a headache for you. he's offering you a fair price if it's in as bad shape as you say it's in. he runs a junkyard, it's not like he's gonna fix it up and sell it for $2000 dollars.I am looking for a detailing job in Saint Louis, MO?
ask for a thousand and work from thereThe only way you could get more for it is if you took it to a salvage yard and had them pay you per pound. Maybe throw in some copper wire? Yes, I would take the money.
i own a repair shop, and id keep the car,,and sell it my self,,ha wasn't offering you much for it,,he probably had the engine already sold for it,,but you can make more than that by selling the whole car for parts,,id say it would bring around 500 like it is,,good luck,i hope this help,s.
The motor and trans are definitely worth more than 200. If you don't need the money and have a place to keep it you should consider trying to sell it yourself for a parts car. The low miles on the engine and trans make them worth at least triple what he is offering if not more. Put in ad out for 750.00 and you ll probably get close to it in the right market. If you need the money or don't have a place to let it sit or don't want to mess with it take the 200 and let it go.
Good luck.
How do you change the thermostat on a 1991 Cutlass Supreme?
Doesnt matter if the engine and tranny is still in good shape, I would replace some of the bad stuff on it and you could sell the engine along for $400 and the Tranny for $350 to $400 too. So yea its a RIP OFF!!Anybody knows what gearbox my car has? 1996 Vauxhall Corsa trip 1.2?
I do alot of EBAY....There was almost no vehicle sold less then $200 even it was wrecked or even it is a junk!
You could still sell the rims and spring and brake lights and ALL kinds of thing on ebay if you want to! i bet you will get alot more if you sell it separatly.
Ebayers....they buy any thing.
If you don't want to take off parts and stuff, just sell the whole thing without reserve. and PICK UP only!
Someone WILL WANT IT
