Question:
i was driving home from out of state and after i stopped to get gas, my car started making a loud clicking noise whenever i put my foot on the gas pedal (if i let go of the pedal the noise stopped), then it said check gauges, my car temp went really high but then went back to normal, check gauges went off, and then a few minutes later the engine light came on. when i pulled off the interstate and put the break pedal on, the car pretty much died. This makes me think something went wrong when I put gas in the tank (I'm pretty sure i didnt accidentally put diesel in, but of course now im double thinking).anyone know what this might be?

Well start with the check engine light, get the computer scanned and see what codes come up. Check your coolant level in the radiator. It's hard to narrow it down.1998 expedition 4wd seems to sag in rear- anyone use air bags to stiffen the rear suspension?
Putting Diesel in to a gasoline car can be quite difficult but it has been known to happen. Most Diesel pumps have a larger nozzle on them then the gas pumps. However if the station had a bad nozzle and only had a gas nozzle to replace it with then it is possible that you put Diesel in to the car. Will the car no longer start? The other thing that bothers me is the fact that there was a ticking noise. I am actually wondering if you where low on oil and may have burned the motor up. This can be a very costly repair, in the area of 1500 to 4000 dollars. Have the car towed and have them check the fuel system for diesel if they do not find any thing then I would fear that you may have cooked the engine. I hope I am wrong.More Questions & Answers ...
