i own a repair shop, and there's a lot of difference in it,,the orange is environment safe, and the green isn't,the orange wont harm animals if they drink it,,the green will kill a cat or a dog within 24 hours if they drink it,,and also the two wont mix well together ,,they know have a green that will mix with it,,but the older green wont mix with it,,it makes it look like it had mud in it,,this is the difference in the two,,good luck hope this help,s.happy new years.

The green stuff is called ethylene glycol and last around 40,000 to 60,000 miles. It is used by Ford and most other car manufacturers. What is meant by the "bell housing" on an engine?

The regular green antifreeze has been around for years, and is recommended to replaced yearly..but now since 2001 most new cars have coolant that last for 5 years, that could be orange or pink, depending on if it is a domestic or import...Either way, you can not mix the two coolants together..your car should have a sticker under the hood telling what coolant is recommended for you vehicle...

Weird alignment issue, can you diagnose?

This is why there is now different coolants. The green was fine for older vehicles due to the fact the engines were primarily made of cast iron. Later it was discovered this antifreeze was causing too much electrolysis (corrosion) in the newer engines because they started using aluminum intakes. The two dissimilar metals cast iron and aluminum being the softer of the two will pit and after time dissolve. As water moves through the engine it creates static electricity, this is actually what kills the aluminum parts. Now the orange and pink were designed to slow the electrolysis process down and this is where the car makers say you can use this new antifreeze for 5 years.

Seeing the cost of the car and how cheap the coolant is, I would use the orange long life and change it every two years any way.
