i have always had petrol cars, and there are loads of performance options,cams,re-maps/chips, turbo, induction kits,permance exhaust's. i now have a diesel and just wanted to know what options i have pls help.

The same principal as tuning a petrol, At Avon park raceway a few years ago a tuning company had a 1.5TD Nova demo car (im sure it was turbopac) it had reprofiled camshaft, bigger valves, intercooler, remapped ECU, hybrid turbo moddified compression ratio and filter etc if I remember it was over 110Bhp / 125lbft torque and was running a standing quarter in mid 15 seconds faster than standard Golf and Pug GTI and 5 GT turbo. So unlike the chap above says all these parts do make a difference wether Diesel Petrol or Two stroke the more fuel and air you can get through an engine the more power you gain. Try getting in contact with Motorsport engineering from Ross on Wye they have a company called Diesel sport they played around with my friend 306 TD it was as fast to 80mph as my BMW 320 when they had finished and that was just by remapping uping the boost and filter no internal work. depends on what sort of car you got, new turbo diesels, especially common rail ones can be chipped or re-mapped.Piston knocking could it be the spark plugs?

If you have a non-turbo, you could fit a turbo, but it would be cheaper and easier to trade up to a car that had one from the start.If you have a modern turbo with electronic fuel control, most are relatively easy to chip.
K&N performance air-filters are available for some turbodiesels.
If you want lots more power, you could fit a larger turbo, but you'll have to chip it to provide more fuel to take advantage of the bigger turbo, and you might reach the torque limit of your transmission.

just gone from a 1.9 tdi 130 to a 2.5 tdi 180 got it chipped to 215 big easy breather filter put on,its a monster,diesels aint slow any more,unless you put water in the fuel tank like i did.oopps.dont by any of that **** of ebay ie chips boosters,bla bla go to a rep company they will even come out to you remap your car and you dont pay them till your happy with results.to go for a bigger turbo your looking at big money,an dont forget more power means more stress on every thing else,but its fun to blow most petrol heads of the road an it says tdi on the back
None of those work with a diesal , there is only one way to zip a diesal turbo it, for that you have to change the head as well
