How much does it cost to repair/replace a transmission?

Question:
i'm looking to buy a really cheap used 2nd car so that i can use it for activities if i'm going on vacation or something. there's this Isuzu Rodeo 1997 for sale in my neighborhood for $1000. the owner says that everything is fine except that the transmission needs to be replaced. how much will the labor cost? and the part itself? will i have an option to get the parts from the junkyard or something to save money?

Door won't open - I have to have it open for repair - How do I get it open?

You should generally expect to spend at least $1000 to replace a transmission. As much as $2000 can be the case. Most transmissions that go in to cars are rebuilt professionally by companies who do that sort of thing. I personally would refrain from buying a transmission from a junkyard or something like that.

Hello, does anyone out therehave an Auto Gearbox Problem on a Toyota Lucida Estima ??

you could always buy a salvaged or used trans for pretty cheap. But the down fall is that you don't know the quality and you have no warranty. Transmissions are tricky to work on and should only be worked on by professionals. To have a shop remove. rebuild, and install you trans problem around a grand give or take a couple hundred. and at least this was you get a warranty!

What is the BMW's part number equivalent to 7852 601 174 061?

It's not worth it. A transmission is gonna be as high as the car... My boyfriend has a old *** suburban but he got new paint and so on.. but he had the transmission replaced and it ran him 1500 bucks!! Because it's a lot of work and not to mention the mechanic is gonna have to take it out and drop it in there. I would shop around because that's some major work that needs to be done when you want to replace a transmission, so it's like all you're paying for is just a car that doesn't run whatsoever, then another 1000-1500 or more just for one part... It's gonna be really pricy regardless of what car you buy if a transmission needs to be replaced, and that is the breaking point wether to get it fixed or get a new car, and the majority of the time, it's better to get a new car... Now you can price to see how much it will cost to get it rebuilt, but it's still gonna be costly. You can call around to junkyards and see how much, but don't count it though... especially because it's a foreign car.. Don't waste your time and find another car.

How much will a new tire rim cost with work included? (the metal part inside- that the tire is on)?

Some vehicles are prone to blow head gaskets mainly because a coolant or fan sensor unit malfunctions it will give you and inaccurrate reading, the reading on the temp gauge may appear OK but it won't be and over heat and engine eventually blowing a head gasket, which on most modern cars/vans cost $3,000 up to repair.
My rule on this is replace these sensors every two years wether you need then or not. That way you can expect your cooling system to run for the life of the vehical.

It would be a lot cheaper if you pull the parts from a junk yard, and maybe you have a friend that can install it. For my Honda Civic it is only costing me 350$ to replace the engine and transmission, because my boyfriend works on cars and is installing it.
