Why does my 1989 Dodge D100 have rough idle and smoke?
NEVER PUT STARTING FLUID IN A DIESEL. everybody else has good info. My favorite trick for priming is to pressurize the fuel tank with air, then crack the lines at the injector pump, you'll get better flow quicker. You also might want to take the glow plugs out and check them to see if they are working, if you have a multimeter you can check the resistence, but I don't know the ohms. Just pop them out, and juice them up for a second to see if they get hot. Fuel and compression, and you should have a running diesel.help help help please help---1990 licoln towncar?
try some starter fluid it will help it to start faster.which car is better audiA698-99 diesel or peugeot607,2000-2002 HDi or volvoS80 diesel-99-2000?
Did you bleed the injectors?how are 2 stroke engines cooled?
At the fuel filter there is a priming pump ( looks like a prime ball on a lawn mower with a rod attached to it. On the side of the housing for the filter is a 10mm bolt loosen that bolt and prime the system then start with full throttle until starting. Watch the exaust or get help if smoking white then your getting fuel, and it should start slow throttle and keep cranking. You may also need to crank it faster ( Use a Battery charger to help there.) Good Luck. Do NOT use starter fluid this will damage a deisel motor beyond repair. This is the steps to bleed injectors. If this engine has individual fuel lines connecting between the injection pump and the injectors on each cylinder, you may need to crack the lines at the injector, then crank the motor over to bleed air out of those lines. Do not take the lines completely off, just loosen the fittings a little(like you would bleed a brake line). If you are getting white smoke from the tail pipe while you are cranking the motor, it may be getting fuel but the glow plugs may not be working.
Have you put new fuel in? Diesel fuel does go off.
Also glow plugs might be bad - some engines will not start without working glow plugs.
Apart from that, crack the fuel line at the injector and keep priming until you get fuel leaking out.
first thing first..do not use starter fluid on diesel engines.
how come my car starts to overheat when idling?
2..be sure you prime it very good (and in order) primary or transfer pump first ,filters, injection pump.injectors lines, injectors
3..you must have a good crancking power from the battery(650 rpm)
4 because that is an small engine before any attent to cranck check that each and every one of the glowplugs are good and they are receiving electrcal juice.
then and only then I wish You luck
