Question:
I just bought a 94 Grand Am GT and it has Dual pipes. It's not that loud, but I rather my car sound quieter when I start it and when I drive. Do I have to replace the exhaust system or something? How much would it cost me to make it quiet? Any professional advice would be helpful. Thanks in advance!

First, make sure you don't have a hole or a loose setting somewhere in the exhaust pipes that could be causing the noise.2001 Toyata Corolla stalls or seriously hesitates when engine cold?
Assuming the exhaust is in good shape, You can buy a 'baffler'/silencer from an auto parts store or dealer, and apply it to the muffler. This will quiet the exhaust. They can range anywhere from $40-$200, so you may want to find a Grand Am forum online first and ask other owners for a recommendation.

It shouldn't be that expensive. Regular mufflers are cheap.
