Question:
I recently bought a used jaguar X-type.The first issue I have is that I can't get the key out of the ignition unless I unplug the battery. Secondly, the transmission is automatic and it looked in great condition, but my shifter won't go to gears 4, 3, nor 2. It's only driveable on D. I drove it for a while and then when I was about to park I forced the shifter to 4 and transmission fluid came out. Any help is appriciated it. Thank you in advance for your reply.
Could it be the transmission cable or something worst?

the key thing is fairly easy. there is a small plunger of sorts in the ignition area, if you tilt the steering wheel all the way up and stick your finger up by the key you might be able to push it .this will release your key. the ignition switch is about 100$John deer hydrostat rearends take fluids and how much if so?
The transmission thing sounds bad...especially if fluid came out. My best guess would be that there is a hole somewhere and the lack of fluid is keeping you from shifting..which in turn could have or will damage the trans. you should take it to a transmission shop
