How do you change the car batterie in an 1994 Ford F150?

Question:
What do you do ? I have never changed the batterie in a vehicle before. What cable do you reconnect first the negative one or the positive one? or does it even matter? Please help!

Answers:

Sentra gxe 97?

when removing I always disconnect negative first then positive.
when installing connect positive first then negative.
my reason is simple, if your wrench slips and you make contact with body metal you don't short anything.
slips while taking negative off negative and negative short no problem. but if slips on positive with negative connected spark will be flying. saw a person do this one time and metal his wedding ring into his finger. not a good thing to happen.

My car makes a zinging sound when I switch the overdrive button off on my car,but not always?

Connect the positive to yours, and then to the battery of the charger. Connect the negative to the negative on the charger, and ground it to the car frame, on your vehicle.

Where can I find the model number on a small air compressor?

it doesn't matter. Disconnect either cable to the battery, then the other, then remove and hold-down device. Hook the new one up either way. Until there is a full circuit it is just a box of acid.

Ok i have a 2003 chevy cavalier and when i turn on my lights only my head lights come on.?

Diconnect either way, and put on either way. Most negative cables are left loose enough to get good connection, but pull off rapidly in case of emergency. Most batteries come precharged, so charging shouldn't be a problem, if it isn't charged, get a buddy with jumper cables to help you start it, and go through about 1/16 - 1/8 tank of gas to charge battery completely once the engine is started. Remove all metal from your hands, and lay a cloth down around battery if you're worried about sparks or anything. Most of the time, it isn't necessary to take the precautions, don't try to do a full travel with your wrench/ratchet, as that puts you at risk, but do many short travels which can be completed quicker by using a ratchet and holding close to the head and simply flicking your wrist to tighten, and use the handle when you need the torque to get it tight.

Do you know anything about cars?

NO MATTER WHAT ANYONE else says here.you should Always disconnect the positive cable first so there is no power to the battery or anything to give off (create) sparks when you disconnect the negative cable and possibly cause problems with the battery .fumes igniting and blowing up the battery in your face..it has happened many times to others.
