1992 Corolla DX, Manual transmission. Reverse lights don't work!?

Question:
I can't figure this one out. I have read just about every repair book out there. I can't seem to find the solution.
When I put it in gear (R), the lights do not come on.
Anyone know what the problem could be? I have a manual transaxle.

i own a repair shop and all it needs is a reverse light switch on the transmission that's it,it cost about 15 bucks at the most,and takes less than 10 minutes to install,an that's it,they should work fine after that,good luck i hope this helps.

is the switch in top of the tranny body.toward the rear.
