Question:
I recently had someone look at my car because it was overheating and throwing out all the coolant they figured it could have been a problem with the waterpump or thermostat, so they removed the thermostat from my car and said that I could run my car with out it. I fixed the leak the radiator had so it wasn't the thermostat, but can I cantinue to run my car with out the thermostat?

Fender repair on 2000 Silverado?
I would not recommend it. The thermostat is there to regulate the temperature in the radiator. No thermostat, no temperature regulation, big potential for overheating and an even more expensive repair. Just replace the thermostat and that may solve the problem. Thermostats are not expensive. If that doesn't work then check the water pump also.My car is making a high pitched grinding noise, what could it be?
i own a repair shop, and it really wont hurt it none but it also wont let the car reach operating temperature, and this will cause the computer to run mostly in open loop mode which will cause it not to run right or get the fuel economy it should, and it wont perform as well as it should, but as far as doing any damage to it no it wont, but id get a new one for it,its better to have them in there ,and this way the temperature of the engine can be controlled, good luck i hope this helps.1995 Chevy Silverado 1/2 ton transmission?
does'nt the thermometer regulate hot and cold?...Hmmmmmm let's see..maybe ur car will overheat because it does'nt know when it's hot or cold! LOL Quick quest. Did u flush ur radiator.if so change it and get a thermostat!believe it or not it probably wont do too much to hurt your car as being functional, because the continuous water would keep your car running at a really cool temperature, although it will have your vehicle acting in a "sluggish" way because all the automobile's sensors and the main computer will think its very cold outside. So everything will work harder when it doesn't really have too.
Does anyone know what it costs to replace a waterpump on a 2003 cavalier ,?
Yes, you can, the thermostat just helps the car warm up faster. How to remove dashboard and gauges from a 91 accord?
In the summer it will overheat because coolant won't be in the rad long enough to cool down and during the cold months it will take forever to warm up, wasting a lot of fuel. Put a new one back in.More Questions & Answers ...
