VW Diagnostics?

Question:
My VW Golf 1998 s reg 1.4 petrol cuts out when I slown down or sometimes when engine is idling. If the problem happens just ONCE should it show up on a diagnostics check?

not necessarily although most Auto zone will read the computer and see if there are any codes, there are two sets of codes, ,one is strickly VW and one is the OSB universal code, most OSB only read the OSB and not specific to car manufactor,

I would check fuel pressure, fuel filters tend to get neglected alot

1998... think tune up. cars run so good now people forget to look at the basics. plugs wires, gas filter....throw in some injector cleaner too

check air filter change it if dirty some times this can cause lack of power or cut out
