Question:
I bought my 2003 Mazda 6 on December 26th. On March 1st, the engine seized. How it happened:
Driving, the oil light came on. At the nearest opportunity, I stopped the car, however the engine died as soon as I stopped. It wouldn't turn over, and upon further inspection we found that the cap on the oil filter had a large crack in it, and the oil had all leaked out. The oil filter is located underneath the engine. The underside of my car has a cover on it, and there are no scratches or signs of having hit anything on it. I was due for my next oil change in 200 miles, and so no one had touched my car since I purchased it.
Engine flush question - did I get hosed?
No oil leaked before this.

Is this a common scenario for 03 Mazda 6s?
As the dealership touched the car last, I'm expecting them to pay for it, and I get the feeling that they are about to put up a huge stink about it.
The warranty won't cover it.
Am I right that this is the dealership's fault for having put the cap on too tightly or something?
Any advice on what to do?

What causes a car engine block to crack?
So you've had the car for over two months, presumably never checked the oil in all that time, then suddenly the oil light comes on, you don't pull over immediately like you should but instead keep driving until it is convenient. Now you want to blame the dealership? Why will my check engine light come on my 05 impala?
How about taking some responsibility for your own actions? After all, if the dealership had really damaged the car you would not have been able to drive it for 2 days let alone two months. You negligence in not checking your oil levels and not shutting down the engine immediately when the oil warning light came on is what killed your engine.

Why do vehicle batteries need to be greased before they are installed?
Goto the dealership and they have to pay for it. Its not your fault that they didn't put all the crap back together correctly after your oil change. If they say that they won't cover it then go apesh1t on them. They have to fix it. Like you can replace your engine? Thats alot of money there dicky.Whoever last changed the oil in the car should be responsible for the damages since they must have way overtightened the oil filter. If the dealership or whoever changed the oil last refuses to fix it, you MIGHT be able to turn it in on your insurance as it was not a routine maintenance type problem, sort of the same league with if your engine caught on fire or something like that. I'd definitely try and find out if the dealer or someone else changed the oil and whoever did it should be liable. If this was a certified used car or anything like that the dealer should be fixing it no mater what.
Could anyone tell me if a 96 citroen zx diesel has a aux oil pump.?

I had a similar problem just this past Tuesday when my oil light came on in my 2002 Ford Focus ZX-5 (65,000 miles). Speedee oil was less than a half mile away so that is where I headed only to have my car die less than a quarter mile from the time the warning light came on.Which way do I turn the mixture screw to lean out the carb.?
I'm the first to admit I'm not all that savvy with cars, but felt for sure the warning light would at least allow me a half mile grace period to get the car looked at by a professional. As far as I'm concerned the warning light is virtually useless. It's the equivalent of the low gas light coming on and running out of gas a quarter mile down the road.
Where is the fuel filter located on a 2003 lincoln navigator, I can't find it?
Does the oil warning light usually give you such a small window to react or was this an odd situation? Just curious.
Oh ya, the dealer seems to think the folks that did my last oil change (3025 miles ago) either over tightened the filter or didn't tighten enough.
