What is the make, year, and model of this car?Can Body filler be applied to wood ?
Fresh air leaking into the converter may make the mixture of air and fuel too lean (too much air, not enough fuel), which increases nitrogen oxide emissions and causes a failed test. A converter has an ideal ratio of air to fuel with which it operates at maximum efficiency. The engine uses oxygen sensors to help maintain this ratio.
could foreign objects make a car backfire?
Any half decent muffler shop that does custom welding can fit a universal converter in there for a decent price. If it's just a hole in the pipe itself, well that can be fixed with a little bit of welding too. I wouldn't recommend a big national shop--get a referral for a local place.
