Question:
I am helping a friend work on getting his truck running. The motor is a Ford small block but we have been unable to identify it. The fuel pump died and we went through all the available options from the parts store but couldn't make a match. We decided to go electric to solve this problem. I built a block off plate and installed a universal electric pump and filter setup that is intended for use with carburated applications. It puts out only 4-7 PSI and is supposed to not need a fuel pressure regulator. The carb is a brand new Holley 4160 (vac sec with elec choke single inlet side hung). It had less than 100 miles on it when the fuel pump went. Now that we have the fuel source fixed, the truck will run but it dies when you open the throttle quickly. It was suggested that we need to tune it with regard to the idle screws and it was also suggested that we add a fuel pressure regulator. There are no vacuum leaks. Do you think we need the regulator or is this a different problem?

Brake fluid gasket always ripping up, Why?
You tell me do you need one, Or just want oneWhat causes the CV boot to go bad?
whatdo you mean by 100 mlieWhat should I do first when my engine is overheating?
The 4 - 7 should work with a Holley carb, 7 is pretty much the max.But it sounds like your accelerator pump is not working on the carb.
With the engine off just look into the primary side of the carb. and operate the throttle lever you should see two thin streams of fuel one for each side.
They should be there from zero throttle to about 1/2, if they are late ,adjust the accelerator pump cam.
Did the carb. work correctly before?
