Question:
My battery is old. When I get in the car nothing works (including the power locks). When I try to turn the car on I don't even get anything turning over. I just does nothing. When my friend tried to jump me I got the power to work for a second, but when I try and start the car it doesn't even give me the chance to turn the car over. Is this a battery issue? A starter issue? Something else?
Answers:
If a battery gets too be so old, even jump starting it wont work.Replace the battery and your problem will be solved.Old worn out batteries (even if jumped) will not produce a sufficient amount of power to start your vehicle.
buy a new battery its 7 years old or clean battery post
Check the cables. Corrosion kills them. Check the positive and negative, also check the cables to the alternator.
replace battery first. this should have been obvious when power locks did not work. next get the alternator tested cuz if it is not charging the battery it will die in short order.
first take the cables off the battery and take an old tooth brush and a 25baking soda/75water and clean them and then put them back on and see if it works otherwise your battery is completely worthless to the point were it will not even hold a charge you could take it down to a auto store and have them test it but it is dead time to go out and buy a new one

My son has a HQ Monaro with a 450 Holley. Will idle for a minute at high revs, then dies.?
When your friend jumps it, let it charge for 5-10 minutes with their car running. After it has charged you will have a better chance of starting it. If it doesn't take a charge you should probably get a new battery. When you do get it started, check that your voltage is around 14V while running.

Ok my car doesnt have power locks, its a 2dr but can i get a keyless entry?
if is the original battery you got your moneys worth, for a 2000 anything that should be its 2nd battery,,,likely that battery is shorted and drains its own power,,,replace before you kill the alternator tooMore Questions & Answers ...
