My 2002 Fiat Punto is making a strange noice when I apply the brake?

Whenever I apply brake slowly,there is a strange noice coming from, I think the back wheel or somewhere at the back.Can anyone please advice what this noice is and how serious can it get.The brake is working properly,it's just the noise that's disturbing.Thanks.

Could be the brakes are worn out. If you have discs all round & it only happens briefly after sitting all night, could just be surface rust on the disc which is soon scrubbed off. Best to get it checked by a mechanic, if only for your own peace of mind
