Why doesn't my car want to reverse uphill?

Question:
I have a 1998 Chevrolet Cavalier and it runs fine except when you put the car in reverse on a hill. The car starts to go in reverse and usually just sits and spins. The only time it does this is when you are on a hill. Any other time it does fine in reverse. No one seems to know what the problem is. I was curious as to whether anyone here did. Thanks in advance for your help.

Is it possible to replace the bumper of a 1994 325i BMW with a bumper of a newer 325i BMW?

The reverse cluthces are worn out...You are putting more stress on them trying to go up hill in reverse...Remove the pan and look for black clutch material, burnt transfluid, or metal clutch plate material...
If these items are in the pan, you will need to prepare yourself for a rebuilt or used transmission repair..

Is a rebuilt motor just as good and/or reliable as a brand new motor?

The transmission filter came loose. When it sits nose down, the fluid in the transmission flows forward and the pump sucks air, effectively putting the trans. in neutral. Have the tranny pan dropped and the filter changed.

Can anyone tell me how far nice is to monte carlo in miles?

If the transmission fluid is low, the pump will be sucking air when the car is pointed downhill.

My car pauses for a second when I step on the gas or pedal , why ?

you better drop the tranny pan and check on the filter.its either loose or dirty.

Another name for PCM?

start out from the begining, with the vehicle and level, chech the transmission fluid level. if that is full, i come up to another series of questions. the only thing a transmission does is tranmit power, reverse is one of the harder gears to work through. if the
engine lacks power, this would be the time that it would more than likely be obvious. aside from that, i would need a little more information.

Car Questions??

If it's a manual, it could be the clutch goind out. Put it against a wall, or concret barrier, put it in fifth, give it gas (about 2500 RPM steadily) and release the clutch, if it only goes down in RPM and dies, the clutch is still good, if it goes up at all, the clutch is starting to wear out. If it is an automatic, follow the directions of the others, about the pan, filter, and fluid. Manuals usually do not have a pan, as there are no internal electrical components to keep seperated from lubricants.

Why does my check engine light come on?

prpbably electrical problem in the transmission

How do you fix a car radiator on a 1996 Buick Roadmaster.?

that's an odd one for sure, just off the wall, what about the differential fluid level(rear end)? maybe when your car is at that angle the lube is too low?
I am curious myself so I'll be watching this one. good luck.
