Problem with my 1986 Camaro?

Question:
I have an 86 camaro TPI that runs really rough when I first start it. It backfires through the exhaust, and is very sluggish. Once it warms up, it seems to run fine, it still just doesn't have the power I think it should have. The normal temp. that it runs at however, is 220*, which i could see being normal in the summer, but not in the winter months here up north. What could be wrong with it?

Where's the external voltage regulator on a Ford F-150, 1991?

i own a repair shop, and it may have a clogged up radiator causing it to run a little on the hot side,,if the coolant doesn't circulate real good it will get a little warm on you and as for the back firing,,it may have a bad egr valve on it,,or a bad distributor cap on it,,even a wire will cause this to happen ,you might need to get it checked out,,it may be going to cause you problems ,with it running this warm and it cold,,it sounds like its going to over heat ,id have it checked real good to be sure,,good luck hope this help,s.happy new years.

87 towncar wont start but crank?

Your timeing could be advanced to far,and/or your EGR valve is not openning and this can cause over heating.Check for proper connection of vacuum lines to correct.A missing wind dam just below the radiator can also cause to over heat.

What is the Best Homemade Way to Clean Nicotine off of Car Door Windows?

Sounds like a basic tune up would cure it.
Plugs, plug wires, cap, rotor, gas and air filter's, adjust timing, adjust carb, fuel system cleaner in the tank
The temp an engine run's at is dependent on the temp rating of the thermostate. 220 sounds high to me for an 86. I'd go for 180 -190

What do you use to suck the brake fluid out of the reservoir?

On a 86 model, there is a alot to do. At every 100k you are suppose to change the timing belt or that model (chain). Change the timing chain and the car will be fine. Once the Timing if is fine the coolant will act fine.

1990 VW Jetta Diesel glow plugs?

Advanced timing causes engines to run a little hotter. Those motors are built to run normally around 210. The computer has probably advanced the timing cuz of the egr locking up.

bad starter or battery?

ok since the symptoms ease after warm-up it sounds like the engine is running in "closed loop" mode before it should. The coolant temp sensor is probably faulty, though the ECM could also be the cause.
