Question:
I have a 2006 Honda Element and in the passed two weeks, two separate occasions i have been driving the car when all of a sudden the steering wheel locks and the car turns off. Both times i have been going about 25-30 mph and no lights come on or anything. All of a sudden the steering wheel clicks and locks and the next thing i know the car is off. When i put the car back in park and turn the ignition off and turn it on again the car starts perfectly and drives perfectly. It has happened twice in one week. Any idea what is wrong here? I took it to two Honda dealerships and neither place can find anything wrong with the car but I am scared to drive it in case the car turns off when i am on the freeway. I have never had an accident in the car and it has less than 15k miles on it. Does anyone know what might be happening here? Has this happened to anyone else? Thank you!

Stalling and hard starting on 99 Expedion?
There has been a couple of reports of this. Being a 2006, it should still be under warranty and the dealer should repair and report the problem. The current diagnosis is a defective ignition switch. When vibrated, it opens the contact from the main power wire causing the car to go into the parked mode. Engine off and wheel locked. Bring it in ASAP because the problem will only get worse and more frequent. You really need to find out what's haunting your car!
Is it possible you have a heavy key ring that might be diddling the switch? Or a long one, that your knee might be hitting?
Labor cost for sparkplugs and crankshaft sensors..?
Lady this is called a gremlin. You must under all circumstances replay in your mind what you were doing at the time the vehicle stalled. were you shifting gears? might you have accidently hit something like the key? if this continues to happen you MUST report it to the dealership immediately. it sounds rather unsafe.More Questions & Answers ...
