Disconnect battery, remove belt, remove the main wire to alternator and the small connector, remove three bolts and bracket behind alternator, remove two lower bolts and its out.All bolts use 10 mm socket. Takes 5 minutes with air tools...10 without. This assumes a 4.6 or 5.4 engine. Good luck!

it may have as many bolts as it takes. start taking off the bolts that hold it in place and the v belt or whatever belt fords use these days and also remove the wires. though you should disconnect the battery first. then assemble it in reverse. check the library for a chiltons manual and take copies for reference. also quiz the boys at the parts store. for tips.they can test the old one to make sure that is the problem. it could be many things.unhook the red battery cable undo the wire on the back of the alternator then remove the belt there should be 3 bolts that hold it in place remove those and you are good to go.
