I have a hole in my exhaust between the catalytic converter and the muffler. I was wondering if there was any quick fixes to cut the noise until I can get the pipe replaced.

You can buy exhaust tape at any auto parts store. You just wrap it on like regular tape and then let your car run to warm it up and as it warms it hardens. Pretty good quick fix.Certainly nothing permanent, but yes, there are quick, temporary fixes at any parts house.

Yes, any auto parts store should have something called "muffler bandage". There are several kinds, but use the one that is already pre-wetted, not the two part fix, which is even messier...it just wraps around the hole, and some have a reinforcing patch you can clamp around the fix...it ain't permanent, but will stop hurting your ears...My car specifically indicates Mobile One synthetic oil. Can I substitute?

The cheap and dirty way is with an aluminum can and 2 hose clamps, wrap it and clamp it. The not so dirty way is a patch that is welded in place until you can replace the pipe or if done right no replacement needed.More Questions & Answers ...
