No power to my Windshield Washer Fluid?

Question:
Hello, I am having trouble with my windshield washer fluid. I have a '85 Pontiac Fiero and at first I thought I might have a bad windshield washer tank pump so I replaced it. But I still have no windshield washer fluid squirting out of the tubes. I had my father check with a detector if power is getting to it and there was none. Any ideas on why I am not getting power to the pump? Could it be inside the car on the tab to activate it? Thanks
