i own a repair shop,what id do is take it and have auto zone scan it to see if any of the sensors went out on it,there has to be something that happened to cause it to drop like that,but id get it scanned as soon as i could,good luck i hope this help,s.

what are some reasons for a vehicle to leak oil?

Do you have a locking gas cap? A non operative EGR valve, do to a cracked vacuum line could cause this.Other items to check;partially plugged exhaust,plugged fuel pressure regulator return line to tank,fuel being drawn into the vacuum line do to a defective fuel pressure regulator,possible siphon hose problem.It happened to me.

I would look at the fuel pressure regulator located on the fuel rail first. If you can pull the vacuum hose off of it and it's wet (with fuel) the regulator is bad.
This is not uncommon at all.
